From 2016 the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems and Technologies headed by police Colonel Uzlov D.Yu. is working at the department. Its focus is intelligence analysis in the field of criminalistics.

In the modern world organized crime and terrorist organizations are often at the forefront of technological innovation in planning, executing and concealing their criminal activities and the revenues stemming from them. Unfortunately, the efforts of Law Enforcement Agencies are often lagging behind when tackling criminal activities supported by “advanced” technologies. Therefore, generating the targeted technologies and developing the intelligent services for fighting both old and new forms of crime and terrorist behaviors assume ever greater importance.
