The Artificial Intelligence Department was the first one at NURE who broak a trail to Europe through concording the curricula with European partners and introducing modern IT technologies, piloting European practices and projects and, in practice, gave good start in life to graduates in European universities and companies due to double-degree programs.
The aim of the major is the target training of specialists having valuable knowledge in future technology – Artificial Intelligence (AI) – among the huge mass of specialists in Computer Science and Information Technology, which will distinguish them on the international market of IT services.
Besides the basic fields of study in IT (programming, data bases, cloud and mobile technologies) and the AI systems and methods, special attention is paid to the two profile directions: Data Mining (which is already included into Data Science) and various Intelligent Web technologies.
Students use modern technologies in education, take part in joint international projects with students from European partner universities, have possibility to learn some courses in English.
The curricular at the AI Department are developed on the basis of international standards in Computer Science and IT and are adapted to modern and future need of IT market.
Since 2022 academic year the Master’s programme Artificial Intelligence Systems will be modernised to assure obtaining by students new skills in detecting hybrid threats and countering hybrid attacks in accordance with the developments of European universities within the framework of the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Academic Response to Hybrid Threats – WARN (610133-EPP-1-2019-1-FI–EPPKA2-CBHE–JP)” where NURE is the national coordinator.
Starting in 2025, bachelor’s courses in AI Machine Learning, MLOps, and AI Ethics will be taught using materials developed by the consortium of the European project “AI Skills Alliance – ARISA,” funded by the Erasmus+ program under the “Alliances for Sectoral Cooperation on Skills” initiative.
The Department trains students of three qualification levels:
- Bachelors in Specialty F3 “Computer Science”, Educational Program “Artificial Intelligence”.
- Masters in Specialty F3 “Computer Science”, Educational and Research Program “Artificial Intelligence Systems”.
- Masters in Specialty F3 “Computer Science”, Educational and Professional Program “Intelligent Data Analysis (Data Mining)”.
- PhD Candidates in Specialty F3 “Computer Science”, Educational and Research Program “Computer Science”.
Forms and Term of Study
Full-time form of study (4 years – Bachelor, 1.5 or 2 years – Master).
Part-time form of study (4 years – Bachelor, 1.5 or 2 years – Master).
There are 2 models of study: by government order (on a budget) or under a contract.
University provides services and maintains facilities which enhance the educational mission of the university: accommodation service in student campus; health centre, student club, sport clubs, university network of dining rooms and cafeterias.
