Impressions of ITSHI-22-2 Students Anna Knysh and Ivan Turenko

✨ Greetings! We, Anna Knysh and Ivan Turenko, students of the AI Department at the Faculty of Computer Science, Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, had the opportunity to study for two semesters at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, as part of an academic mobility program. 💙💛

🌍 Our experience was incredibly positive and diverse. It is important to note that people in Finland are very kind and friendly. We always felt a welcoming atmosphere and support, both in everyday life and during our studies. 🤗

🎓 It was especially pleasant to attend courses taught by Ukrainian professors. They not only represented our university but also demonstrated a high level of professionalism, proudly representing our country on the international stage. This gave us confidence and created a special sense of support and unity.

🏠 The dormitory conditions were comfortable: cozy rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a good bathroom. Additionally, our dormitory had a free gym and an affordable sauna. The scholarship was sufficient for both living expenses and leisure activities.

🏞️ We would like to highlight the beautiful winter weather, which created a cozy atmosphere and a true winter fairytale. Finland impresses with its nature, and winter walks became a wonderful way for us to relax from our studies. ❄️🌲

A selection of sweets. Behind us, there is a similar counter, but filled with chocolates.

🍫 We were also pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of local products. Food in Finland is delicious and sometimes unique, with a wide variety of easily accessible ingredients that allowed us to cook tasty meals. Finns have a sweet tooth, and the selection of sweets is incredibly large. We highly recommend trying tar-flavored ice cream—here, a spoonful of tar won’t spoil the barrel of honey!

🎯 The University of Jyväskylä provides all the necessary conditions for successful learning. We did not encounter any difficulties with organizational matters, and whenever needed, we received support from the university. All inquiries and requests were handled quickly and efficiently, creating a comfortable environment for both studying and living.

One thing to consider is that Jyväskylä is a small city with a limited number of entertainment options. Travel opportunities are also somewhat restricted, which might be important for those seeking more active leisure. However, available activities include bowling, darts, swimming, skiing (rental is expensive, and sportswear is required), ice skating, and sauna sessions. 🤩

🌟 This experience was incredibly valuable for us—it broadened our horizons, allowed us to enhance our professional knowledge, improve our English language skills, and immerse ourselves in a new culture.

We are truly grateful for the opportunity to be part of this program and highly recommend that every student take advantage of such an experience. It is not just about education but also an unforgettable life journey, new friendships, and a path to self-development! 🌍💫
