The 1st at the NURE project, funded by the Tempus programme, “The new framework for M.Sc. Thesis Work” (EU TEMPUS TACIS Compact Project UM_CP-20560-1999) developed a Methodology of credit-based transfer for courses / practical placements obtained at host EU partner universities under bilateral agreements and was piloted within double-degree programmes with Finnish and Dutch universities.
Double-degree MSc programmes were launched in 2000 with 2 partners: the Finnish University of Jyväskylä and the Dutch Vrije University of Amsterdam.
For 13 years Double-degree programmes brought outstanding results :
More than 80 students obtained 2 MSc Diplomas:

Several “Laudatur” grades for the diplomas, the very first in the history of the IT faculty of JYU -FI;
27 students got European PhD.
The Directorate for Education and Culture of the European Commission in 2008 recognised the double-degree programme with University of Jyväskylä the best international programme in Finland.
