NURE Computing Complex Helps Build Intelligent Communication Networks of the Future

Researchers from the Artificial Intelligence Department at NURE are conducting research within the international project DIOR (Deep Intelligent Optical and Radio Communication Networks), implemented with the support of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research and Innovation Staff Exchange).

The DIOR project combines research in artificial intelligence, optical communications and radio communication networks. Its objective is to develop new methods and intelligent technologies for creating high-speed, reliable, secure and energy-efficient communication networks.

An important tool for this research has been the University’s modern computing complex, created at the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the joint project with the World Bank, Ukraine Improving Higher Education for Results Project (UIHERP). Its capacity enables researchers to model the operation of optical and radio communication networks, process large datasets, train artificial intelligence models and conduct extensive series of numerical experiments — simulating hundreds of millions of network events within a reasonable period of time.

According to Oleksandr Shevchenko, Professor at the Artificial Intelligence Department at NURE, the team is developing a new type of diffusion model whose application to network management will increase data transmission speeds, significantly reduce energy consumption and improve network reliability.

NURE’s participation in the DIOR project contributes to the University’s integration into the European Research Area and the development of international scientific cooperation.
