On the eve of the New Year, the Faculty of Computer Science turned into an epicenter of fun, creativity, and… agile development! Groups of curious high school students visited us, ready to dive into the world of algorithms, machine learning, and international opportunities.
The department presented the Artificial Intelligence study program, opportunities to participate in international projects and academic mobility programs, and future career prospects. But the real highlight was Agile Poker. If you thought estimating task complexity was boring, our guests are now ready to disagree!
Teams, guided by experienced Scrum Masters (Head of the Department Larysa Chala and senior lecturers Dmytro Maliayev and Olena Hrynova) and carefully moderated by Associate Professor Anastasiia Chupryna, plunged into lively discussions. The task was presented, the cards (not playing cards, but special ones) were dealt. Moments filled with debates, laughter, and arguments like “why 1 and not 3?” Time flew by in great company.
The prospective students didn’t just learn what Agile/Scrum is—they felt how to reach agreement, improve shared understanding of a task within a team, and plan more accurately. Some even seemed to consider using this technique at home to plan their New Year celebrations.
Of course, no event would be complete without gifts. The winners—those who reached consensus most effectively—received sweet prizes, adding even more joyful эмоtions to the day.
We are grateful to everyone who came, played, laughed, and asked questions. Who knows—perhaps among these team players and passionate poker debaters are the future stars of the AI world.
The doors of the AI Department are always open to those who want not only to study, but also to understand, communicate, and create together.
Ready for the next challenge? We look forward to welcoming you as our students!
Special thanks to the Department of Software Engineering for the excellent organization and the well-equipped classroom!
